Blog #12
Websites Knowing Their Audience
This week we focused on blogs and websites and how they can either be self-published or published through a bigger company. I found that a lot of the development that is successful on both the websites and blogs work whether they are self-published or not. Some things that I found that make a blog successful is the layout and structure of these blogs. For example, the way that blogs are structured allow for the reader to have access to the main idea of the post at the beginning, then using an active voice to continue the reader's attention.
On Wednesday in class we decided to look over some websites. The one website that we mostly discussed was Apple. We found themes and ideas that seemed to draw the customer in to their product. One idea that I had about this website is the amount of effort that they put into their pages; despite their product being so popular anyways.
Another website that I thought was intriguing was Vogue. I wanted to see the online website because I heavily pay attention to the magazine release. However, when I was scrolling through this website, I found that the theme changes everyday. Not only does this theme change, but these topics are trending. For example, the show The Crown released another season on Netflix. This is a show that revolves around The Royal Family and life in England. Vogue decided to highlight fashion trending in London and looks from the runway that honor England or The Royal Family.
The individual articles grabbed my attention from the first line. These authors either decided to grab their reader's attention by reflecting an older fashion trend, making a joke, or immediately diving into how you can add these trends to your closet. There would also be videos or photos of seeing these fashion trends on the runway or on the street.

Ciera,
ReplyDeleteI loved your thought processes on structures in websites and such and I really liked how you talked about the different components that bring in an audience. I think that structure matters because that's what establishes credibility with users. If a site is well put together and easy to access, users have a better experience and prefer the simplicity. I think that is what makes Apple really successful and keeps a high retention rate of customers. Great thoughts Ciera!
