All the Different Kinds of Platforms

Throughout class this week we had a workshop day to focus on our iFixit projects, then we moved onto discussing platforms and what defining that looks like. To help us process those various concepts we played Pictionary as a class. I do want to say that our group was cheated for a win... but we will just have to make that up another time.

When learning about platforms, I had a moment of clarity how often we use platforms. I think it is safe to say that almost everyone uses a platform on a day-to-day basis. Understanding how this is meant to work just helped deepen the rabbit hole of what technology is. However, I also thought about how platforms are used in order for society to stay in touch with one another. Like the common social media platform that we constantly discuss: TikTok and Twitter. Without platforms like these, I do not think society would be as connected as we are now. I find multiple influencers with job opportunities just because of the platform TikTok. Whenever I need to look up any trending piece of information, I can quickly search on Twitter and that platform generates the common topics like the Try Guys or Kanye.

Overall, I think that platforms now are used in a way to stay connected. For our generation to know the latest trends and opinions. Right now I think we can see the behavior of Kanye West and how his use of communication on his platform use spread like wildfire. I think that there will continue to be more platforms that are invented where we are able to continue to share social media, but it still further connects society. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if something more efficient than Google.
